Cherokee County experienced damage from the storms that passed through our area last night. The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning early yesterday afternoon. However, as the day progressed, numerous other warnings were issued including flood warnings and a tornado watch until 2 o’clock this morning. Cherokee County 911 received numerous calls regarding trees down and roadways being blocked. At one time, Georgia Power reported that 900 people were out of power in Cherokee County. There was also some flooding in the county, too, including extensive flooding at Cagle Circle Road in the Salacoa community. Residents in Woodstock also reported seeing dime-sized hail. Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported due to the storms.
