Hundreds of public safety agencies throughout Georgia gathered yesterday to say their goodbyes to Officer Joe Burson who was killed in the line of duty last week. The funeral for Burson was held yesterday afternoon at Woodstock First Baptist Church, followed by an escort of public safety agencies as his body was taken to Rolling Hills Memory Gardens. Thousands of people gathered along Highway 92 to pay their respects to this fallen hero. Burson, who worked for the Holly Springs Police Department, was killed late Wednesday during a traffic stop. On behalf of Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services we thank all of you who supported the family during this difficult time. In these tough times, Burson and his family will always be in our thoughts and prayers. He is going to live forever in our memories.
