Woodstock Firefighter, Edward Michael St. Romain, passed away on Thursday, March 25th, in Nashville, Tennessee where he received a double lung transplant at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. St. Romain was a retired Sergeant with Woodstock Fire and Rescue and also served as a Sgt. Combat Engineer in the United States Army. According to Woodstock Fire Chief, Dave Soumas, “Ed was a loyal employee to the City of Woodstock and the department will miss him greatly.” Funeral services were held yesterday at Lakeside Funeral Home in Woodstock, followed by the internment at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton. Sgt. St. Romain was escorted to the cemetery by a full procession of fire apparatus from Woodstock, Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services and fire departments from neighboring counties. Firefighters could also be seen on overpasses on I-575 as the procession headed northward to the cemetery. Sgt. St. Romain is survived by his wife, Doris, daughter, Emily, twin sons, Elisha and Samuel and adopted daughter, Jessie. Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services would like to offer our sympathies to the family and our “thanks” to our fellow brother for his service to our area.
