Cherokee County Weekend Weather: Tornadoes Possible Thursday

CHEROKEE COUNTY, GA — We can expect showers and thunderstorms Thursday, partially as a result of Hurricane Harvey, with an 70 percent chance of precipitation.

The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook warning of the remnants of Hurricane Harvey coming to the area. Thursday, there will be a chance of severe storms, and possible tornadoes.

We can expect strong gusts of up to 30 miles per hour Thursday, especially in higher elevations. Lower elevations may experience flash flooding.

Friday: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Patchy fog before 11am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 80. South wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Friday Night: A slight chance of thunderstorms before 8pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 61. West wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 10%.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 79. West wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.

Saturday Night: Clear, with a low around 60.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 83.
