County To Consider Agreement with Holly Springs For Fire Station

The Cherokee County Commission will vote on a land lease agreement for the replacement of Fire Station No. 3.

The Cherokee County Commission on Tuesday is set to consider a 50-year land lease agreement with the city of Holly Springs to replace an aging fire station.

The commission will consider approving the agreement to lease two acres from the city within the Holly Commons development as the location to build a replacement for Fire Station No. 3.

According to documents, the land is sandwiched between Hickory Flat Highway and Crown Avenue and the county would pay Holly Springs $1 per year for the lease.

County commissioners will also consider choosing Wiley Wilson to provide master planning, architectural and engineering services for two new fire stations for sites in Holly Springs and Ball Ground for $200,000; the purchase of a 14-passenger bus for Cherokee Recreation and Parks Agency for $54,660 from Alliance Bus Group; and a request from Majestic Realty Company to rezone 26.3 acres of land on the northeast corner of Highway 92 and Northpoint Parkway from general commecial to light industrial.

Majestic seeks the rezoning for warehouse distribution and/or retail use.

The commissioner’s meeting will start at 6 p.m. at the county administration building. Its meeting will be preceded by a work session, which starts at 3 p.m. During the work session, the county will hear the 2014 annual report from CRPA and a presentation of a new sculpture garden at Chukkar Farms.
