Holly Springs To Fine Residents For False Alarms
The fines will kick in after the fourth false alarm in one year.

HOLLY SPRINGS, GA -- At its May 16 meeting, the Holly Springs City Council passed an ordinance establishing fines for repeat false alarms that require a police response.
According to the ordinance, a fourth false alarm in one year will cost a person $50. That figure rises to $75 for the fifth violation and $100 for the sixth and any additional false alarms.
The ordinance went into effect once the change was passed by the council.

Citizens are also required to obtain a permit for alarm systems, which are free of charge. The police department is hoping that this measure will "mitigate the number of times officers spend responding to false alarms in the city, which will save tax dollars," the city said in a press release.
Questions as well as permit applications should be directed to Holly Springs police Lt. Greg Clyburn at 770-721-7523 or gclyburn@hollyspringsga.us.
