Internet Privacy Legislation is NOT "Senseless"
Internet Privacy Legislation passed by GOP House and Senate reduces privacy protections
Congressman Loudermilk's support for recent legislation which removes protections against the use of personal data by you Internet Service Providers is a step in the wrong direction. The law blocks an FCC law that prevented the ISP's from collecting and using data related to your browsing history (think Health, Financial, Social) for advertising purposes. Therefore, should the legislation get signed by the President, potential exposure of our most sensitive online activity could be used by these entities or sold to others for their use. While content providers are capable of doing the same thing, we at least have to agree to a terms and conditions clause when using the service. As there is usually few competitors to choose from for an ISP, there are few ways to avoid using them based on privacy concerns. Seems our congressman is more concerned for the profits of telecommunication companies and not the privacy of his constituents.
