New Associate Judge Joins Cherokee Magistrate Court
Courtney D. Goodwin was recently sworn into office.
Courtney D. Goodwin assumed the position of associate judge of the Cherokee County Magistrate Court in late January.
Cherokee County’s Chief Probate Judge Keith Wood administered the oath of office in a ceremony attended by family, fellow judges and members of the local bar association.
Judge Goodwin has nine years of trial experience, including her work under the Illinois Third Year Practice Act. She studied law at the Southern Illinois University School of Law. She holds a master’s degree in social work from Georgia State University and a bachelor’s degree in criminology from Florida State University.

Judge Goodwin interned with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, she has worked as an assistant district attorney, and she currently practices adoption and juvenile law as a principal in the Canton firm of Goodwin & Goodwin, Attorneys at Law, P.C.
