Along with Keep Georgia Beautiful, Olde Rope Mill Park is also host to the city’s annual Christmas Tree Chip & Dip initiative.

From 8 a.m. to dusk Friday, Dec. 26 to Monday, Jan. 12, residents can drop off their trees at the park where they will be fed into the chipper. The following week, residents can return to the park with a shovel between 8 a.m. and dusk to dip into the batch of mulch that will be available for free.

Local Bring One For The Chipper events are part of Keep Georgia Beautiful’s statewide initiative. Since its inception, the program has recycled an estimated six million Christmas trees.

The mulch from these trees has been used for improving fish or wildlife habitats, playgrounds, local government beautification projects and individual yards. Davey Tree Expert Company, a sponsor in the state’s event, will offer free mulch to those who complete an online form on Keep Georgia Beautiful’s website.

Additional Bring One For The Chipper locations can be found on Keep Georgia Beautiful’s website.
