The White House hopes Americans will not only tune in, but alsoΒ participate in the 2014 State of the Union address.Β President Obama will deliver the annual address on Tuesday, Jan. 28, at 9 p.m.

This year, an enhanced version ofΒ President Obama's speech including graphics, data and statistics will be live streamed on the White HouseΒ Facebook,YouTubeΒ andΒ Google+Β pages.Β The event will also be available for viewing using theΒ White House mobile apps.Β

After the speech, a live "Open for Questions" event will be streamed on theΒ White House State of the Union page.Β According to aΒ post on the White House website, citizens will have the chance to ask questions and hear responses from a panel of senior White House advisors. Questions can be posted now and during the speech onΒ Twitter, Vine, Instagram, Google+ and Facebook using the hashtag #SOTUChat.Β

With President Obama'sΒ approval ratings near an all-time low, the State of the Union address is an opportunity for the administration to shift the public's focus from recent problems to what lies ahead and avoid prematurely settling in to the "lame duck" portion of the Obama presidency.Β

"On Tuesday night, the President will lay out a set of real, concrete, practical proposals to grow the economy, strengthen the middle class, and empower all who hope to join it," Assistant to the President andΒ Senior AdvisorΒ Dan Pfeiffer wrote in aΒ post on WhiteHouse.gov.
