KENNESAW, GA — The Atlanta man charged with murder in connection with the death of a Kennesaw golf pro and two other men on July 3 was arrested hours after the shooting incident and released days later, jail records show.

Bryan Anthony Rhoden was captured Thursday evening and charged with murder, aggravated assault, and kidnapping for the July 3 shooting deaths of Eugene Siller, Paul Pierson, and Henry Valdez.

But Dekalb County Jail records show that Rhoden was arrested by Chamblee Police later that evening and booked into the jail around 2 a.m., on July 4 — nearly 12 hours after police discovered the scene of dead bodies at Pinetree Country Club in Kennesaw — and charged with a bevy of driving offenses including DUI, no insurance and providing false ID.

Cox said Rhoden was arrested in the Chamblee area but declined to describe how investigators tracked him down or linked him to the deadly shootings of Siller, the Kennesaw golf pro, Valdez, a 46-year-old from California, and 76-year-old Pierson of Kansas.

“I realize that some members of the community felt some frustration, and felt like they had a limited amount of information,” Cox said. “But the successful arrest and prosecution was our highest priority.”

Police say Siller was shot after he apparently encountered Pierson’s stolen pick-up truck on the 10th hole of Pinegreen Country Club on Saturday afternoon. Pierson’s and Valdez’s bodies were found in the back of the truck, police said.

Rhoden is being held in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center without bond.
