Construction company Metro America is hiring about 60 framers in the Kennesaw area, and the Georgia Labor Department’s is helping.
The center, at 465 Big Shanty Rd. in Northeast Cobb, will play host to a recruitment session next Tuesday from 10 a.m. to noon.
Applicants for the jobs assembling the wooden skeletons of buildings must have a résumé, a high school diploma or GED, and at least six months’ framing experience, the Labor Department said in an announcement Monday. If you can’t read a tape measure, don’t bother applying.

The announcement is the latest sign that the construction industry is picking up. And the recruitment session will be the same day that Gov. Nathan Deal is expected to announce a Georgia program aimed at guiding more young people into the skilled construction trades, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
