Driver Who Struck and Killed 22-Year-Old Pedestrian Arrested, Released on Bond

Amanda Ambrose, 25, of Kennesaw, is charged with striking and killing 22-year-old Forrest Mann of Marietta with her car on Oct. 1.

Less than 24 hours after her arrest, 25-year-old Amanda Ambrose of Kennesaw has been released on bond, after being charged with striking and killing a 22-year-old man walking alongside the road Oct. 1.

According to Cobb County Sheriff's deputies, Ambrose was driving her 2007 Ford Focus north on Canton Road in Marietta around 9:20 p.m. at the same time 22-year-old Forrest Mann of Marietta was attempting to cross the road from east to west.

The front of Ambrose's Ford struck the pedestrian.

Ambrose was treated at the scene for minor injuries, and Mann was transported to Wellstone Kennestone Hospital with serious injuries. Mann later died of his injuries.

AJC.com reports Ambrose was arrested Wednesday and charged with speeding and second-degree vehicular homicide. She was released on $5,720 bond less than 24 hours later.

AJC.com also reports that Ambrose previously avoided jail time in February of 2015 after police caught her with 90 oxycodone pills and a bag of methamphetamine. A judge gave her three years of probation.

A GoFundMe site has been set up to help cover Mann's funeral expenses. As of Friday, $2,755 of the $7,000 goal had been raised.
