Georgia Weather: Heat Indices Could Reach 108 Degrees This Week
Heat indices could approach advisory level near 108 degrees this week, potentially causing heat stress the National Weather Service warns.
GEORGIA — The National Weather Service is warning that the temperature this week could climb past 100 degrees, cautioning the public to limit outdoor time.
A Heat Advisory is in effect for portions of central and east Georgia until 8 p.m. Monday night. Heat index values will be around 104 to 108 degrees, mainly south of a line from Hamilton to Forsyth and Washington, the NWS said. High heat and humidity will cause heat stress during outdoor exertion or extended exposure.
The Heat Index is a measure of how hot it really feels when relative humidity is factored in with the actual air temperature, the NWS said.
