Kennesaw, Red Top Mountain Sponsoring 'Get Kids to the Parks' Day
The event is set for Saturday, May 14.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Allatoona Lake Project, in cooperation with the National Park Trust, will be having a Get Kids to the Park Day at Victoria Day Use Area Saturday, May 14. The event will take place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will feature several partnering agencies. Admission will be free for everyone attending the event. During the event, the Victoria Day Use Area ramp is closing to boat traffic.
Current 4th graders will be issued Every Kid to the Park Passes, good for admittance to federal parks across the country for the entire family. Volunteers from the Cherokee Arts Center will judge a “Chalk on the Walk” water-safety art contest, also a kids fishing derby will take place during the event. Parents are encouraged to bring picnic lunches and fully utilize the park picnic sites and beach. Park Rangers will be handing out Ranger Trading Cards and Buddy Beaver will be on-site for photographs.
Participating partners during the event include Kennesaw National Battlefield Park and Red Top Mountain State Park.
