In Loving Memory of Minnie L. Okes, 72

Mrs. Minnie L. Okes, 72, of Kennesaw, GA left this world for her eternal home on December 28, 2015. Minnie was born on June 11, 1943 in Mobile, AL to the late Leonard and Amelia Day. She was the valedictorian of her high school class. Minnie worked for 7-11 for many years. While in training, she met the love of her life and future husband, Danny Okes. After they married and started a family, she continued to work with 7-11 for many years. Later she began work at the Christian school her 5 children attended. She’s always had a passion for cooking good southern food, and she put her talent to work in the cafeteria at Shiloh Hills Christian School. She then worked for Bell South Mobility until her retirement. Minnie has been an active member of Shiloh Hills Baptist Church since 1973. She will be remembered for the selfless and caring way she took care of her family as well as her southern cooking and famous biscuits. Minnie will be immensely missed by those who knew and loved her. Minnie is survived by her husband of 50 years, Danny Okes, son, Ron Okes(Kim), daughters, Tammy Williams (Steve), Christine Fry (Dan), Debbie Peacock (Steve) and Susan Queen (Matt), 17 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her brothers, Carl V. Day, Jesse Day, Otis Day and Lenny Day and a large and loving extended family. A funeral service will be held Thursday, December 31, 2015 at 11:00am at Shiloh Hills Baptist Church, 75 Hawkins Store Rd, Kennesaw, GA 30144. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 from 4:00-8:00pm in the chapel of Woodstock Funeral Home, 8855 Main St, Woodstock, GA 30188.
