In Loving Memory of Willie Mikell, 79

Obituary and service information from Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw.

Willie Mikell, age 79, of Kennesaw, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2015.

He was born to Joseph and Minnie Mikell on March 15, 1936 in Bacon County Alma, Georgia.

A father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he was a U.S. Army Veteran who had served in various positions, including the armor infantry, for 23 1/2 years. He served 12 years in Germany, 1 year in Korea, 1 year in Vietnam, and 4 years of Recruiting Duty. He retired from the workforce on March 15, 1996. He was a member of the Retired Enlisted Association, Chapter 83.

Whilst in Germany, he married Elisabeth M. Floesser on July 5, 1958 in Schweinfurt.

He was an adamant political republican figure who was very passionate about his beliefs. He was a history buff and enjoyed traveling all over the world including Europe, the Caribbean, and across the United States. He loved his family, especially his wife, Elisabeth. They were the perfect partners in crime, they enjoyed traveling together to places such as Europe, the Caribbean, and across the United States. He had an active social life but was truly happy staying in and spending time with his family. He loved playing spades with his grandchildren.

He also took great pride in being a self sufficient man. He grew up learning to be able to do things himself and to be very independent. These traits were very important to him. He was one who was quite particular about his lawn. He tried his best to have the most manicured grass in the neighborhood. Alongside his love for his family, he also enjoyed his pets - there were the birds, his dog “Skipper,” and his dog, “Dribble,” to name a few.

Willie Mikell is preceded by his loving wife, Elisabeth Floesser Mikell in 2010; and his parents, Joseph and Minnie Mikell; and his brother, Ernest Mikell. He is survived by his son, Ralph R. Mikell and his wife, Evarista, of Merrimac, Wisconsin; daughter, Claudia K. P. Martin of Marietta, Georgia; brother in law, Roland Joseph Floesser and his wife, Gelinde; sister in law, Kathinka Rothkamm and her husband, Horst, of Germany; 3 grandchildren, Christopher Lee Mikell of Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Anthony Willie Mikell of Merrimac, Wisconsin, and Isis E.
