National Night Out Set For Aug. 6 In Kennesaw

This event is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for and participation in local anti-crime efforts.

KENNESAW, GA — The Kennesaw Police Department, in partnership with other local public safety agencies, joins forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the 36th annual National Night Out to be held on Tuesday, Aug. 6 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at Swift Cantrell Park, 3140 Old Hwy 41.

National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for and participation in local anti-crime efforts, strengthen police and community partnerships, and to send a message to criminals that neighborhoods are uniting together to fight crime.

National Night Out is an annual campaign that promotes police-community partnerships. This event enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Millions of neighbors in thousands of communities across the U.S. take part in National Night Out, started in 1984, on the first Tuesday in August with block parties, festivals, parades and cookouts.

Kennesaw Police will be posted at Swift Cantrell Park starting 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Several officers will be on hand for introduction, to answer any questions you might have and to display their patrol vehicles. Two helicopters, Georgia State Patrol & Air Life, are planning to fly in (while on-call) and department K-9, Turbo, will be stealing the show with his demonstrations.
