Smith-Gilbert Gardens Seeks Volunteers
The 16 acre gardens in Kennesaw are looking for volunteers to lead guided tours. Training for volunteers begins next month.

KENNESAW, GA -- Smith-Gilbert Gardens is asking for volunteers who want to learn how to lead guided tours of their 16-acre complex.
Training for new volunteer “Tour Docents” begins in February, according to the Marietta Daily Journal. Smith-Gilbert Gardens’ website says the training consists of “plant identification, history of the Hiram Butler house and information about our 30 pieces of Garden Sculpture.”
Upon completion of training, Tour Docents have all the skills and information they will need to lead groups on guided tours through the facility, which boasts more than 3,000 species of plants.
