The American Red Cross and Town Center at Cobb are hosting a blood drive from March 3 through March 5.

KENNESAW, GA — Town Center at Cobb and the American Red Cross are asking for the community's help to meet a critical need for blood.

The two groups are hosting a blood drive beginning Wednesday through Friday at Town Center at Cobb, located at 400 Ernest Barrett Parkway in Kennesaw, a news release said. People can donate blood from noon to 5 p.m. on each of those days.

Appointments are recommended, but not required.

"Winter weather and COVID-19 have dramatically decreased donor turnout at many blood drives. Donations are critically needed for thousands of patients to receive necessary, life-saving treatments," the release said.

To make an appointment, visit the "Find a Drive" section on the American Red Cross' website and use the sponsor code "tcac" to see available times and schedule an appointment.

The Red Cross is following Food and Drug Administration (FDA) blood donation eligibility guidance for those who have received a COVID-19 vaccination.

Those who have gotten a COVID-19 vaccination will need to provide the manufacturer name when donating and/or bring the COVID-19 vaccine card or printout given upon vaccination, according to the release. Anyone with further questions is asked to call 1-800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767).
