What's Open, Closed New Year's Day 2019 In Kennesaw

KENNESAW, GA — Most services will be closed on New Year's Day, but Kennesaw residents should also be aware of closures on surrounding days like New Year's Eve.

Here's a look at some of what will be open and what will be closed in Kennesaw on and around Tuesday, Dec. 31 and Wednesday, Jan. 1:

• Cobb County offices and courts will be New Year's Day.
• Kennesaw City Hall will be closed on New Year's Day.
• Emergency services remain available.
• Trash collection will be interrupted on New Year's Day. For Monday holidays, trash/recycle routes during the entire week following these holidays will be picked up on day later. For holidays that fall midweek, collections on the days of that week after the holiday will be delayed until the next day (for example, if the holiday is Tuesday, the Tuesday routes are picked up Wednesday, Wednesday picked up Thursday, etc. for the remainder of the week).
• For specific holiday hours at the Southern Museum of Civil War & Locomotive History or Smith-Gilbert Gardens, contact the Museum or Gardens directly.
• Cobb County Schools are off from Dec. 23 through Jan. 1, 2020. A teacher workday will be Jan. 2, 2020, and a District Professional Learning Day on Jan. 3, 2020. Students return Jan. 6, 2020.
• Cumberland Mall and Town Center Mall in Cobb County will be open on both New Year's Eve and day. Cumberland Mall will be open on New Year's Eve from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Town Center Mall will be open on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• MARTA will run on Dec. 31. Trains will operate on a modified Saturday schedule with 15 minute frequencies. At 6 p.m., the rail frequency will increase to 12 minutes until the end of revenue. Atlanta Streetcar will run on a Saturday schedule. Buses will run on a Saturday schedule.
• Cobb County libraries will close at 5 p.m. on Dec. 31 and be closed on New Year's Day.
• AMC Movie Theaters are open. Customers can reach out to the customer service department by calling 1-913-213-2000.
• New Year's Day is a federal holiday and all U.S. Postal Service post offices will be closed. No mail will be delivered or sent. Regular business hours will resume Jan. 2.
• All banks are closed on New Year's Day.
• Publix: All Publix stores will open at regular hours and close at 9 p.m. on New Year's Eve. Most Publix stores will open at regular hours and close at 7 p.m. on New Year's Day. All Publix pharmacies will be closed on New Year's Day. Locate a store near you for specific store hours.
• Kroger: Stores are open regular hours on New Year's Day and Eve. Pharmacies are open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Jan. 1 and regular hours on New Year's Eve. Call your store to check.
