Body Of Roswell Man Found After Boat Sinks: Forsyth Sheriff

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office recovered the body of a man a witness saw drowning near Dahlonega Highway Saturday night.

FORSYTH COUNTY, GA — The body of a Roswell man was recovered Monday night after officials searched for him all weekend.

After 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office and the fire department responded to a 911 call to the 5300 block of Dahlonega Highway (Ga. 9) in reference to a drowning at a local lake.

Once deputies arrived, they met an eyewitness who saw a capsized Jon boat and a male in the water prior to going under. The deputies immediately started a search and rescue mission to find him.

Throughout the evening, Forsyth County Fire, Georgia State Patrol Aviation Unit, and the Georgia
Department of Natural Resources searched for the man in the water. The search resumed on Sunday morning and continued on Monday.

At 3:10 p.m. on Monday, the Forsyth County Fire Department Dive Team recovered the male from the water.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab will be performing an autopsy.
