Community Funds Traditional Graduation Ceremony for Centennial

Support and Sponsorships Needed to Make "Walking Across the Stage" a Reality for the Class of 2020

The community in East Roswell is coming together to fund an in-person, traditional graduation for the Centennial High School class of 2020 at 7:30PM on July 31 at the Ameris Bank Ampitheatre in Alpharetta, Georgia.

The community has currently raised $12,689 of its $20,000 goal via a GoFundMe campaign. It has defrayed event costs by teaming with other north Fulton county high schools in the same predicament and in collaboration with Ameris Bank Ampitheatre. Ameris offers an outdoor venue capable of accommodating a large group that can be socially-distanced in pods of 6 or fewer.

"Covid-19 may go down in history, but it will not keep us down," said one Centennial High School senior. "Our class has overcome a lot this spring and we want to be a part of creating the 'new normal' in a responsible way, while getting closure on the first major chapter in our lives. We are so grateful the community is rallying around us! And, I am so proud of my classmates, many of whom are looking for ways to fundraise for this event on their own."

The event organizers, primarily parents, are seeking additional funding from the community, including local business sponsors. "Covid-19 has brought us all together. There's something about the graduation milestone that offers hope and the promise of a bright future to us all," said one parent on the graduation event committee.

Should the graduation event be cancelled for any reason, all donations will be refunded, less the GoFundMe processing fee.
