Five Centennial Students Chosen For Governor's Honors Program

The GHP is a residential summer program for gifted and talented HS juniors, seniors. Only 72 were selected as finalists in Fulton County.

From Centennial HS PTSA: This year, five students from Centennial High School have been selected to attend the 2017 Georgia Governor’s Honors Program (GHP) hosted at Berry College in Rome, Georgia this summer. GHP is a residential summer program for gifted and talented high school juniors and seniors. Selection is based on a combination of ability and interest and is highly competitive. Only 72 students were selected as finalists in all of Fulton County out of thousands of entrants. 2017 will mark the 54th consecutive summer of GHP, making it the longest continually running program in the nation.

Students will arrive on the campus of Berry College on Sunday, June 18, 2017. Students will spend the mornings in their major area of nomination, exploring topics not usually found in the regular high school classroom for four consecutive weeks. Evenings are filled with seminars, activities, concerts, and performances. The five Centennial students nominated—all juniors—and their respective areas of focus are: Joshua Agri (Theatre Performance), Rogan Munro-Foulis (Social Studies), Anise Overton (Communicative Arts), Irene Wang (Music: Piano) and David Wen (Music Strings: Violin).

Principal Kibbey Crumbley said, “The Governor’s Honors Program is a tremendous asset in Georgia. Our gifted and talented students hold tremendous potential as future leaders and we congratulate all our Centennial finalists! I know they will all benefit greatly from this program.”
