Funeral on Friday for Roswell Teen Killed in Accident

Funeral services for the teenager who died in a two vehicle accident in Roswell will be held on Friday.

Services for Christina Marie Wenke, 18, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 24 at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church on Glenridge Drive in Sandy Springs.

The family will accept friends during visitation from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 23 at Northside Chapel Funeral Directors and Crematory at 12050 Crabapple Road in Roswell.

Christina was a senior at Roswell High School and “her contagious smile and outgoing personality will be missed by all those who knew her,” her obituary states.

Roswell police and rescue units responded to the accident around 12:25 a.m. Sunday, April 19.

A 2012 Honda Accord traveling south on Knoll Terrace was trying to make a left turn onto Pine Grove Road when it was hit on its driver’s side door by a 1995 Nissan pickup truck, police spokesperson Lisa Holland said.

The Accord “left the roadway, went down an embankment and struck a tree on the driver’s side door,” Holland added. Christina, who was behind the wheel of the passenger vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the truck, 17-year-old Ernesto Resendez-Gomez, was transported to North Fulton Hospital with what Holland said were “visible injuries.”

The accident remains under investigation.
