Lantern Parade Will Wind Its Way Through Roswell April 27

Several speakers from faith communities in Roswell will lead the crowd in giving thanks to the air, land and water that sustain Earth.

ROSWELL, GA -- Join Keep Roswell Beautiful at Riverside Park on April 27 for Roswell’s first Earth Month celebration. This free, family-friendly event is meant to be educational, inspiring and inclusive as participants celebrate the natural world.

The evening will begin with a variety of educational vendors demonstrating with hands-on activities just how easy and fun it can be to protect natural resources. At 6 p.m., activities from Chattahoochee Nature Center, Atlanta Audubon Society, Georgia Department of Natural Resources, The Amphibian Foundation, Medicine Bow, Solarize Roswell, and National Park Service will teach what concrete steps the public can take to protect humans and earth.

Several speakers from faith communities in Roswell will then lead the crowd at 7 p.m. in giving thanks to the air, land and water that sustain Earth.

At twilight around 7:30 p.m., join the city on the inaugural lantern parade. Everyone is welcome to participate, but the city asks participants bring something that glows, twinkles or shines, but no fire or flames. The parade route runs from Riverside Park to Don White Park and back (about a mile round trip).

The city encourage the public to create a lantern out of natural or reused/recycled materials. Or, join them at one of their spring lantern building workshops and bring your creation with you to the parade. For a list of workshop dates and details, visit www.keeproswellbeautiful.org/earth-day/.
