In Memory: Marlean "Chell" Blythe, 70, Accepted Christ At Early Age

In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made to the Pulmonary Hypertension Association.

Marlean “Chell” Blythe, 70, of Roswell, GA, formerly of Carbondale, IL, passed away Friday, Sept. 1, 2017, at North Fulton Hospital in Roswell. Chell was born in Henning, TN, to the union of Archie and Geraldine (Morgan) Marchell, on July 23, 1947.

There she attended the Oak Grove Consolidated School and the Oak Grove Baptist Church. As a young girl, Marlean moved with her family to Carbondale, IL, where she attended Thomas and Attucks Grade Schools, Carbondale Community High School, and took courses at Southern Illinois University. Accepting Christ at an early age, Marlean became a member of the New Zion Missionary Baptist Church.

On June 22, 1968, Marlean was united in marriage to Edward E. (Eddie) Blythe who survives her. After almost 50 years away, Marlean will return home to Carbondale.

Services celebrating Chell’s life will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017, at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Darryl K. Cox officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will
be from noon to 1 p.m. at the church. Jackson Funeral Home of Carbondale is in charge of arrangements in Carbondale.

A memorial service will be held in Roswell at a future date. Northside Chapel Funeral Directors in Roswell will be in charge of arrangements in Roswell. In lieu of flowers the family would ask that donations be made to the Pulmonary Hypertension Association.
