In Memory: Scott David Pursell, 46, Faced Illness With Courage

Scott David Pursell of Roswell, Georgia, died unexpectedly at his home on Aug. 3, 2015. Scott was born Sept. 5, 1968 in Pittsfield, MA to David L. and Catherine M. Pursell. He was an amazing husband to Catherine Grimes Pursell and devoted father to Connor Scott and Emmeline Catherine Pursell.

Scott graduated from Wahconah Regional High School in Dalton, MA in 1986 and St. Michael’s College in Winooski, VT in 1990 with a BA in Business. Scott had a successful 23-year career with Sprint, most recently as a Client Executive. In April 2014 Scott began a new career with salesforce.com. His strong work ethic and integrity represented the values in which he believed.

Scott attended Roswell United Methodist Church and was a member of Brookfield Country Club. Always full of energy, his laughter and booming voice lit up a room. He enjoyed announcing his son’s football games and could also be heard on the sidelines supporting Emmeline and her cheer squad. He loved music, and especially Frank Sinatra with one of his favorites being “My Way.”

Scott set an example on how to approach life. Everyone responded to his outgoing personality and friendliness. Scott faced his medical challenges with courage, and was always able to maintain a positive and cheerful outlook. His friends and family will remember his ‘larger than life’ attitude. He will be deeply missed.

A viewing will be held Friday, August 7th from 6:00 p.m. 8:00 p.m. at Northside Chapel, 12050 Crabapple Road, Roswell, Georgia. The funeral service will be on Saturday, August 8th at 2:00 p.m. at Roswell United Methodist Church, Roswell, Georgia.

Scott is survived by his wife, Cathy, children Connor and Emmeline; his parents Dave and Catherine Pursell of Lavonia, GA; two brothers, Kenneth Pursell of North Adams, MA and Todd Pursell of Chapel Hill, NC; grandmother Bernadine K. Miller of Athens, GA; niece, Jacqueline Pursell and nephew, Kevin Pursell and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Susan Connelly and husband Marty Johnson, and his father-in-law, Jerry Grimes and wife Joyce, all of Savannah, GA.
