In Memory: Vincent Callaghan, Remembered For Love of Music, Quick Wit
Callaghan immigrated to the United States from Ireland in 1958 and taught carpentry and cabinet making in Massachusetts.

Vincent Andrew Callaghan of Roswell, GA passed away on Jan. 25, 2016, at the age of 78, after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

A funeral mass and celebration of his life will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Alpharetta, Georgia on Friday, Jan. 29 at 10 a.m.
Vincent was born Jan. 29, 1937, in Gurteen, County Sligo, Ireland, to the late John and Bridget (Horan) Callaghan. His sister, Mary Timmons, and his brother, Patrick Callaghan, preceded him in death.

He immigrated to the United States in 1958, making Massachusetts his home for the next forty-eight years. He served in the National Guard and began teaching cabinet making and carpentry at the Somerville Trade High School in Somerville, Massachusetts.
He received a bachelor’s degree from Fitchburg State College, his Masters in Education from Boston State College, and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies from Boston State College. In 1986 he became the director of Vocational Education for the city of Somerville and continued in that position until his retirement in 2001. He relocated to Roswell in 2006.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Eileen Callaghan; his daughters and their spouses, Marie and Drew Gant of Roswell, GA; Tricia and Mark Mullins of Atlanta, GA, and Tara and Brian Carr of Los Angeles, CA; grandchildren, Ryan Gant, Erin Gant, Sean Gant, Siobhan Mullins and Liam Mullins; and his brothers, Thomas Callaghan of Danvers, Massachusetts and John Callaghan of Clones, County Monaghan, Ireland.
He will always be remembered for his quick wit, his love of music, and his dedication to his family, friends and students.
