ROSWELL, GA — The Roswell Cultural Arts Center joins thousands of arts organizations across the nation to celebrate National Arts and Humanities Month throughout October. The CAC has planned several featured events that offer a broad array of professional programming and all are invited to participate in the month-long celebration.
Family Series: The Atlanta Opera’s Hansel & Gretel
- Friday, Oct. 11 at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.
- Tickets: $10
- The Atlanta Opera debuts a new adaptation of Humperdinck's enchanting fairytale Hansel & Gretel where students are invited to take center stage alongside Atlanta Opera artists! Suitable for all ages, this version of the timeless classic teaches very valuable lessons about being polite, making friends, and not judging a witch by her wardrobe.
Center Stage Series: Iconic Ladies of Jazz and Soul

- Featuring “America’s Songbird” Myrna Clayton
- Saturday, Oct. 12 at 8 p.m.
- Tickets: $30
- "America's Songbird" Myrna Clayton will take you back to the days of Ella Fitzgerald, Nancy Wilson, Gladys Knight, and Natalie Cole in her performance honoring the Iconic Ladies of Jazz & Soul. Myrna's entertaining and uplifting performances are unforgettable and earned her the role of Cultural Ambassador, representing American Music abroad for the U.S. State Department. This performance is supported by a grant from the Fox Theatre Institute and Georgia Presenters. It is presented in partnership with Friends of the Roswell Parks.
Second Story Series: The Yellow Wallpaper – A Workshop Performance
- Saturday, Oct. 19 at 4 p.m.
- FREE but ticket required
- Join writer and performer Hannah Church and composer Julia Appleton for a workshop performance of The Yellow Wallpaper, a new musical based on the short story by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. Performance with discussion to follow in the Second Story Gallery.
Artist Spotlight Series: StrongHearted – The Photography of Kate T. Parker

- Award-winning photographer Kate T. Parker will exhibit works from her best-selling books, Strong is the New Pretty and Heart of a Boy.
Tickets for all shows can be purchased at RoswellCAC.com, by calling 770-594-6232, or in person at the box office. Discounts for seniors, students, military, and groups may be obtained in person or by phone. Tickets are required for everyone ages two and up.
National Arts and Humanities Month is coordinated by Americans for the Arts. This month-long celebration grew out of National Arts Week, which was started in 1985 by the National Endowment for the Arts and Americans for the Arts.
