Roswell Extends State Of Emergency, Opens Park Parking Lots

ROSWELL, GA — Roswell Mayor Lori Henry has updated her April 24 Executive Order to extend the City of Roswell’s state of emergency through June 12. The mayor’s new order is consistent with the governor’s most recent executive order, which extends the statewide state of emergency to June 12.

The mayor also will open the parking lots of most Roswell parks. However, in order to help support physical-distancing measures, city athletic facilities, outdoor gym equipment, playgrounds, Old Mill Park at Vickery Creek, the Heart of Roswell Park, Barrington Hall and its grounds, and Bulloch Hall and its grounds will remain closed until further notice.

City of Roswell leadership monitors the Georgia Department of Health and the Fulton County Board of Health data daily. It is also following the White House’s “Guidelines for Opening up America Again.”

“I know we are all looking forward to reopening our city and getting our lives back to normal,” Henry said. “But we will be taking a very measured approach in reopening Roswell. We will do this keeping in mind the health, safety and welfare of our citizens by following CDC and Georgia Health Department guidelines.”

Roswell Recycling Center To Reopen On May 5

Earlier this week, the city announced it will reopen its recycling center May 5, with restrictions.

To protect the health of residents and staff, operations will be modified as follows:

• Service will be limited to City of Roswell residents only.
• Hours of operation will be Tuesday through Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
• Residents are required to remain in their vehicles at all times.
• Recyclables must be located in the trunk of cars/SUVs or in the bed of pickup trucks.
• Recyclables must be presorted and ready for collection. No sorting will be conducted by City staff.
• Shredding will be limited to drop-off only.
