Roswell Police Warn Of Pine Straw Scam

Roswell Police are warning the public to be cautious of a scam involving pine straw using leftover pine straw, and intimidation methods.

ROSWELL, GA — Roswell Police said they have had reports in Roswell and neighboring jurisdictions about a pine straw scam.

The scammers typically go to resident’s doors and allege that they have leftover pine straw from another job that they can sell and distribute at a reduced price. Once the buyer and seller agree to a price, the sellers then spread fewer bales than agreed upon and return to the resident stating they had to apply additional bales and the price has now increased several hundred dollars. When residents are reluctant to pay the additional cost, the sellers then become aggressive and even intimidating to try to get the resident to pay the new price.
