Roswell To Restart Big Creek Parkway Project
The $58.5 million project would provide an alternative for motorists traveling between the east and west side of the city.

ROSWELL, GA — The Roswell City Council on Monday voted to restart its Big Creek Parkway project, which would construct a new thoroughfare from Old Alabama Road to Warsaw Road.
City leaders unanimously approved the resolution at its Jan. 28 meeting to resume the initiative, which would cost $58.5 million and done in two phases. Roswell council members in November paused the project to meet with Georgia Department of Transportation, MARTA and county and state officials to discuss what plans those agencies have for the area before proceeding with their local project.
Council members approved the resolution, stipulating that staff members have met with local and state officials and believe the project "integrates well with the any future plans in Roswell for managed lanes and Bus Rapid Transit in the Georgia 400 interchange."

Roswell's proposal is part of its Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax project list that was approved by Fulton County voters in November 2016. The Big Creek Parkway project would be a two-lane road that cuts across Ga. 400 from Warsaw Road to Old Alabama Road. Plans call for constructing two bridges over Ga. 400 and Big Creek, as well as making improvements to Old Holcomb Bridge Road.

The project would include a sidewalk and bike path, and provide an alternative for motorists traveling between the east and west side of the city. According to city documents, the first phase of the project would widen Warsaw from two to four lanes, and add two turn lanes on Holcomb Bridge Road and Warsaw Road.
The second phase would include the connection to Old Holcomb Bridge Road, a new roundabout on Warsaw at Big Creek Parkway and a multi-use path on Holcomb Woods Parkway east of Old Alabama Road.
