2 Injured In Fire At Sandy Springs Condo Building

The fire also damaged six units Thursday afternoon along Winding River Drive.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA — Six condo units were damaged Thursday afternoon in a fire reported on Winding River Drive in Sandy Springs.

Firefighters with the Sandy Springs Fire-Rescue Department were dispatched to the call in the Winding River Village community, which is located off North River Parkway behind the North River Village Shopping Center anchored by Stars & Strikes.

Crews were able to put out most of the fire by 7 p.m. Thursday, but not before the blaze damaged six units, Sandy Springs Fire said on its Facebook page.

Residents who have been displaced will be allowed temporary shelter at the community's clubhouse, and the American Red Cross has been notified of the emergency situation. The fire department said two people suffered minor injuries, and one of those residents was transported to the hospital.
