Condo Fire Displaces More Than 2 Dozen In Sandy Springs
A Sandy Springs fire official said Thursday's fire on Winding River Drive damaged six condo units.
SANDY SPRINGS, GA — Sandy Springs Fire-Rescue officials continue to investigate the fire that displaced more than a two dozen people Thursday afternoon on the northern side of the city.
Firefighters were dispatched to a call around 4:10 p.m. Jan. 31 of the fire in the Winding River Village community, which is located off North River Parkway behind the North River Village Shopping Center.
Sandy Springs fire Capt. Craig Miceli said six units were damaged in the fire. Two people were also forced to jump from the top floor of one of the units, the captain told Patch. City spokesperson Sharon Kraun said an adult male suffered injuries, and was transported to the hospital for treatment. A Sandy Springs police officer also received minor injuries in connection to the fire, which displaced 29 people, Kraun said.

Residents who have been displaced will be allowed temporary shelter at the community's clubhouse, and the American Red Cross has been notified of the emergency situation, Sandy Springs Fire-Rescue said Thursday on its Facebook page.
Capt. Miceli said the cause and origin of the fire remains under investigation.
