Arrest Made In Fatal Triple Shooting: Sandy Springs Police

SANDY SPRINGS, GA — The Sandy Springs Police Department with the assistance from the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office, Georgia State Patrol, and the Calhoun Police Department has made an arrest following a murder investigation originated from a triple shooting that resulted in the deaths of two victims on Thursday.

According to reports, police were called to the scene at 789 Hammond Dr. around 2 a.m. after residents reported hearing gunshots. Three people were found shot inside the apartment, two were dead and the third was rushed to a hospital with a reported gunshot wound to the leg.

Sandy Springs Police detectives have identified the individuals involved.

On Monday, Jesus Alvarez de la Rosa, 25, of Atlanta, was found at a home in Calhoun, Georgia and arrested by Sandy Springs Police detectives with the assistance from local agencies and the Georgia State Patrol. The suspect has been charged by police for home invasion, murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Other charges are expected to occur.

The two deceased victims have been identified as Ariel Collazo, 20, of Norcross, and Jerry Salazar, 19, of Sandy Springs. The identity of the third victim is being withheld at this time, and his injuries have been considered non-life-threatening.

Jesus Alvarez de la Rosa has been turned over to the Fulton County Jail on the above charges and is awaiting prosecution.
