Atlanta Kidnapping Suspect Possibly Linked To Sandy Springs Case

The suspect remains at large; however, Sandy Springs police said the suspect's "MO" is similar to other recent cases in the Atlanta area.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA — The Sandy Springs Police Department is asking the public's help in locating a man accused of recently robbing and kidnapping a woman in the Sandy Springs area. Detectives believe this suspect may also be linked to several similar cases in the Atlanta area.

According to police, this latest crime, which has characteristics of recent kidnappings and robberies in the Atlanta area, took place on Oct. 9 just after 6 p.m. in the area of Roswell Road near Mt. Paran Road.

Sandy Springs police said the suspect entered the rear of a parked passenger vehicle with a woman inside and then forced her to drive to an ATM within Atlanta where she was ordered to withdraw cash.

The victim was not physically harmed, police said.

The Sandy Springs Police Department is actively working together with the Atlanta Police Department because detectives believe the suspect may be involved in two other cases in the Atlanta area.

Atlanta police said a similar case happened on Sept. 25 on Piedmont Road. The victim was leaving her hair salon and getting into her car when the suspect suddenly jumped in, CBS 46 reported. The victim said she was then forced to drive him to an ATM at Atlantic Station where he directed her to withdraw hundreds of dollars.

Days later, police said the same man struck again in the same area, kidnapping a woman from a QuikTrip on Sidney Marcus Boulevard and forced to withdraw money from an ATM, according to WSB-TV.

Police said the victims of the three cases recently met with a sketch artist to produce an image of what the suspect may look like.
