Babysitter Faced With Murder Charges After Death Of 2-Year-Old

A 29-year-old babysitter in Sandy Springs was arrested on charges of murder after the death of the 2-year-old she was watching.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA — The Sandy Springs Police Department has made an arrest following a homicide investigation of a 2-year-old child who died while under the care of her babysitter.

On Dec. 9, the Sandy Springs Police Department launched an investigation after a medical call was received regarding an unresponsive child inside an apartment on Monterey Parkway. The child was taken to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta where she was pronounced deceased by medical personnel.

Detectives learned the child was under the care of her babysitter Kirstie Flood, 29.

An autopsy performed on the child revealed she suffered severe injuries that resulted in her death during her care by the suspect.

  • Felony murder (2 counts)
  • Malice murder (1 count)
  • Aggravated battery (1 count)
  • Cruelty to children, First degree (1 count)

Due to the victim’s age, the Sandy Springs Police Department will not release her identity.
