Church of Scientology Atlanta honors Sandy Springs Police Dept

For the 4th consecutive year, The Church of Scientology honored the Sandy Springs Police Department (SSPD) during Red Ribbon Week. This year was bigger and better than ever with the Sandy Springs Interfaith Clergy Association also throwing in their support of the event. The award ceremony was held in the Church’s Information Center where there are 15 video displays which contain some 300 documentary videos covering the fundamentals of Dianetics and Scientology, including the core principles and beliefs, the ever-expanding network of Scientology Churches, groups and the global scope of Scientology as a religious movement, as wells as the various humanitarian programs, now the hallmark of the Church the world over. For this event, in deference to Red Ribbon Week, all of the displays were tuned in to the social betterment program “Drug-Free World; The Truth About Drugs”. This easy to understand fact-based platform represents the drug awareness and education that is the true weapon in the fight against drugs.

Red Ribbon Week honors not only police but all enforcement officers in their commitment to expanding education and awareness about illicit drugs and their deadly abuse. Officers Cory Begeal and Forest Buchanan were the honorees on behalf of the entire SSPD. The day also corresponded with “National Take-Back Day” wherein the public is encouraged to drop off unused and unneeded prescription drugs in order to keep dangerous drugs out of the hands of anyone that might want to wrongly use them. According to Officer Begeal, this year’s Take-Back-Day netted over 200 pounds of pills that will now be safely disposed of, thanks to the SSPD.

A beautifully engraved natural wood plaque read “The Church of Scientology with The Sandy Springs Interfaith Clergy Assoc. Recognizes and Appreciates The Sandy Springs Police Dept. for Red Ribbon Week 2019”. This was presented to Officer Cory Begeal in the presence of more than 40 attendees who clapped loudly, showing their appreciation of how the motto “To Serve and Protect” is thoroughly shown by the local Police Department.
