Community Shows Overwhelming Support for Sandy Springs Police Officers

Members of the community have written letters, dropped off meals and treats, and even shown up in person to pray for officers.

A woman waiting to speak to an officer at a Sandy Springs police precinct Saturday wasn't waiting to make a report--she was waiting to pray.

Sandy Springs policeman Sgt. Chip Bohannon posted to Facebook recently that, when he met with the woman at headquarters, she said she was there because "she felt she needed to come and pray with her police force following recent events."

"She held my hands and said a nice prayer for all of our safety at SSPD," Bohannon posted on the department's Facebook page.

The department said, since the deadly shootings of five police officers in Dallas on Thursday, the community has shown overwhelming support for the force, sending kind letters, stopping them to wish them well in public and even dropping off meals and treats to local stations.

"A huge thank you to all," the department posted on Facebook.
