Fulton Commissioner Wants to Continue Communications With the Braves

During its Wednesday recess meeting, the Fulton County Board of Commissioners adopted a resolution by Robb Pitts (District 2, At-Large) urging continued negotiations with the Atlanta Braves, a media statement said. 

Commissioners noted that the Braves’ proposed move to Cobb County could result in a significant economic impact to Fulton County, particularly with regard to sales tax revenue.

The Fulton County Board of Commissioners appoints one-third of board members for the Atlanta-Fulton Recreation Authority, which owns Turner Field.  Commissioners Tom Lowe (District 4) and Joan Garner (District 6) serve on the Authority board.

Commissioner Pitts said, “As long as there is a glimmer of hope, we should do all we can to continue negotiations with the Braves.  Fulton County is a key stakeholder in this process and must have a role in negotiations.”

The Board adopted the resolution with a vote of 5 – 0.
