Fulton County Presidential Election Results: Trump Vote Maintains

FULTON COUNTY, GA — Although still undecided who took Georgia on Election Day, President Donald Trump’s vote count in Fulton County as of Wednesday at noon was in track to his performance in 2016, as his share of the vote hovered around 27 percent of votes in the county.
There is still no winner declared in Georgia as of Wednesday at noon, although President Trump has claimed victory.
Georgia's Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger said just before noon on Wednesday that the state still has 200,000 absentee ballots and 43,000 early votes to count, according to WSB-TV.

The Peach State is one of a handful of key states where the presidential contest is too close to call; others include Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania.
As of 10:15 a.m. Eastern time, 99 percent of the state's vote was counted. President Donald Trump had 50.4 percent of the vote, with 2.38 million votes, to former vice president Joe Biden's 48.3 percent and 2.28 million votes. But outstanding votes in Fulton County, a large Democratic stronghold, could give Biden the win in Georgia.

In a 2:20 a.m. speech in the White House, Donald Trump claimed victory in the Peach State and said the election is a fraud that requires U.S. Supreme Court action.
Biden has said he expects to win the race, and none of the national news organizations have called Georgia for either candidate.
So how did Trump's support in Fulton County compare with his vote totals in 2016, when he was running against former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton?
According to this NYT interactive map, Trump maintained his support in Fulton County in 2020, as of the results by noon on Wednesday.
In 2016, he earned 117,783 votes compared to 120,083 votes in 2020, as of Wednesday afternoon.
Tuesday's vote climaxed a heated battle for control of the White House, unfolding during a pandemic that killed nearly a quarter of a million Americans before Election Day.
Trump had struggled to overcome polling deficits in key states in the campaign’s final days. He ran strong as expected in rural areas, but lost support among other critical voting groups, including suburban women in several battleground states.
CNN reported in October that polling put Biden up by 25 points among women voters. According to the final 2016 pre-election polls, Clinton won women voters by 13 points among likely voters and 14 points among registered voters.
