Funeral On Monday For Sandy Springs Firefighter Killed In Crash
Jacob Hammond, 21, died Thursday in a motorcycle accident in northern Forsyth County.
SANDY SPRINGS, GA -- Friends and family will say goodbye on Monday to the Sandy Springs firefighter who died Thursday morning in a motorcycle accident on Forsyth County. The service for Jacob Hammond, 21, of Gainesville, will be held at noon Sept. 25 at McDonald and Sons Funeral Home in Cumming.
Hammond's family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23 and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 24 at the funeral home, his obituary notes.

A preliminary investigation conducted by a traffic specialist investigator reveals a black 2016 Harley Davidson XL1200V (Sportster) was traveling on Bannister Road and "while negotiating a curve in the roadway, the motorcycle left the roadway and the driver was ejected," the sheriff's office previously told Patch. The motorcycle operator, identified as Hammond, was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
According to his obituary, Hammond, a native of Gainesville, served two and a half years with the Sandy Springs Fire-Rescue Department and "will be greatly missed by all the lives he touched there." He is survived by parents, Bart and Lynn Croft Hammond; grandparents, Linda Ledbetter, Sheryl Croft and Allen and Bettina Hammond; sisters, Brittanee Hammond, Bethany Hammond and Lillee Hammond; niece, Lauren Melton; and nephew, Carson Couch.
