GA Legislature To Resume 2020 Session On June 15
The Georgia legislature suspended its session in mid-March, and will return later this month to resume its 2020 session.
GEORGIA — The 2020 Georgia legislation session has been paused since several of Georgia's lawmakers had to self-quarantine after a state senator tested positive for the coronavirus in mid-March. Now, lawmakers will be able to resume later this month.
Speaker of the House of Representatives David Ralston and Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan issued a joint letter on Wednesday announcing the Georgia General Assembly will resume its 2020 legislative session on June 15, the 30th Legislative Day.
"We continue to work closely with the Senate Administrative Affairs team to create procedures that allow us to return safely to the Capitol," Duncan said in a statement last month. "I am diligently working to implement a Senate-wide testing program for all Senate members and staff prior to session reconvening. June 15 will give members enough time, after the primary election, to be tested for free at their local health departments, which all Georgians are able to do.”

The legislators will be focusing heavily on the state's budget, which will need to be updated from what was approved prior to the pandemic.
On March 12, House Resolution 1473 was adopted by both the House of Representatives and the Senate, which essentially stated the coronavirus made it "impossible to conduct the affairs of the General Assembly."

Following such reconvening, the General Assembly may provide, by joint resolution, a new schedule for meetings and adjournments.
