Heritage Sandy Springs Farmers Market Kicks Off Saturday

SANDY SPRINGS, GA -- Starting this weekend, Sandy Springs residents will be able to purchase fresh produce, meat and baked goods directly from local growers.

The Heritage Sandy Springs Farmers Market will open for the 2016 season on Saturday, April 16 at Century Springs East, located at the corner of Lake Forrest Drive and Mt. Vernon highway.

The market will run each Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to noon April 16 through Oct. 29. Weather permitting, organizers will host min-markets with shortened hours in November and December.

Each installment of the market will feature live music and nearly 50 vendors offering an abundance of fresh, local produce, along with pasture-raised meat and pork products, farm fresh eggs and dairy products, and a wide variety of prepared foods.

The Heritage Sandy Springs Farmers Market "is where friends and neighbors gather to share the experience of fresh, local fun and a first name shopping experience," the organization said.

“Figuring out what food to get these days is a huge challenge,” said Gail Fore, a Sandy Springs resident and frequent patron of the Market. “Every newspaper, magazine and website has a different opinion on how eat healthy. However, they all seem to agree that locally-grown is best. How lucky are we in Sandy Springs? This huge, beautiful market is easy to find, with lots of free parking and full of delicious, fresh choices: naturally-grown and humanely-raised produce, meat, eggs, and sometimes flowers! When I can't decide what to buy, I grab some coffee and a breakfast sandwich and amble around to see everything first. Being there every Saturday is a weekly highlight for me; the nearby farmers are the best, the musicians provide an upbeat energy, and running into friends there is always a treat. Thank goodness it's nearly time for it to open again; I, for one, have been counting the days.”
