Heritage Sandy Springs Farmers Market To Open April 13

Heritage Sandy Springs Farmers Market will open for the season on Saturday, April 13 at City Springs, 220 Mt. Vernon Highway.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA -- Heritage Sandy Springs Museum and Park Farmers Market will open for its 10 th season on Saturday, April 13 at City Springs,220 Mt. Vernon Highway. The Market, with over 40 vendors, is open every Saturday, 8:30 a.m. - noon from April 13 - Sept. 21 and 9 a.m. to noon October 5 - Dec. 14.

The Heritage Sandy Springs Farmers Market features fresh, local and organic produce, along with pasture-raised meat and pork products, farm fresh eggs and dairy products, fresh breads, and a wide variety of specialty and prepared foods, as well as jewelry and other artisan items. Prepared, hot and cold foods are also available to eat on site or take home.

Each week features a musician. The first featured Musician on April 13, is David Tyberg. Tyberg taps into the roots of his musical training and his love of the tenor banjo/tenor guitar, focusing on rock/pop favorites, jazz standards, Broadway hits, and his own songs.

Periodically, chefs will come and do a cooking demonstration.

Vendors in this year’s market include returning vendors as well as some new products. A few new vendors include, Stoneridge Foods selling spice blends, We Three Girls with fresh, handmade granola, Val’s Kale Chips selling kale products, A Good Gut Feeling selling foods good for your gut, and other vendors with fresh juices, flowers and plants, and much more.

“I look forward every year to seeing my regulars who come get their cheese,” Robin Schick, Cheese Maker and Founder of CalyRoad Creamery, and a vendor of the Heritage Sandy Springs Museum and Park Farmers Market since 2010, said in a release. “Opening day is exciting. It's the beginning of the season for fresh produce and meeting friends at the market. It's the beginning of drawing the community together once again and sharing an outdoor experience smack in the
middle of a big city.”

In addition to the Farmers Market, Heritage Sandy Springs Museum and Park also offers kids programming. The Little Diggers program, engages kids ages 6-10 in horticulture and gardening runs monthly starting May 4. American Girl and Boys Club is a monthly program just down the street from the Farmers Market at the Heritage Sandy Springs Museum Garden Room. Parents can drop off girls and boys from 10 to 11:30 a.m. while they shop the Farmers Market. American Girl and Boys Club is an educational program centered around a monthly American Girl Doll (bringing a doll is optional). Kids get a lesson in history through play using crafts, activities, entertainment and a snack in the perspective of the lesson.

“Kids are learning and they don’t realize it,” Keith Moore, Director of Curatorial & Educational Affairs for Heritage Sandy Springs Museum and Park, said in a release. “This program is in its fifth year and going strong. It fills up quickly, so we encourage signing up ahead of time.”

Cost of the American Girl and Boys Club program is $10 in advance or $15 at the door. Dates are: April 27, May 25, June 29, July 27, Aug. 31, Sept. 21, Oct. 26 and Nov. 16.
