Mary Catherine Thomson, a senior at Holy Innocents' Episcopal School, has received a 2013 Outstanding Senior in French Award from the American Association of Teachers of French (AATF). The annual award is given to graduating seniors who "have demonstrated excellence in the study of French as well as exceptional commitment to the French language," according to the AATF.

Thomson has been a Governor's Honors scholar, a member of Youth Leadership Sandy Springs, and a youth board member for Horizons Atlanta, an academic, cultural, and recreational program for diverse students from low-income families.

"Mary Catherine shows eagerness and enthusiasm in her studies," said Holy Innocents' languages teacher Gerard Gatoux. "She always participates in our class discussions and, more than not, her remarks demonstrate perspicacity, intelligence, a solid knowledge of world issues and a rare eloquence.  I love having this young lady in my class and am very proud of her accomplishments."
