Holy Innocents' Teacher Honored

Stephanie Garner, Upper School chemistry teacher and sponsor of the Science National Honor Society at Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School (HIES), has been named a recipient of the Loridans Academic Fellowship. The fellowship provides a financial grant from an endowment made possible by the Charles Loridans Foundation to recognize and reward outstanding upper school teachers.

 “I am most honored to be recognized as the Loridans Academic Fellow for HIES,” said Garner. “I was both surprised and humbled to be chosen since there are so many outstanding educators here. I consider myself blessed to work in an environment where teachers strive toward excellence in all they do.” 

Garner will be Holy Innocents’ Loridans Academic Fellow for the next five years.

“Stephanie always exhibits professionalism in her craft and great care for her students, said Allyson Marbut, Holy Innocents’ science department chair. “She is truly a seasoned educator and a wonderful coworker to all of us in the science department.  She is that teacher we all aspire to become!”

The Loridans Foundation established its fund in 1992. The recipient is selected on the basis of having excellent classroom skills, the ability to motivate students, and a keen interest in, and commitment to, the teaching profession.
