Keep North Fulton Beautiful on Saturday will host a free document shredding event for Sandy Springs residents.

Residents can drop by the Sandy Springs Recycling Center from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 29 to utilize the service.

To avoid identity theft, the Federal Trade Commission recommends shredding charge receipts, copies of credit applications, insurance forms, physician statements, checks and bank statements, expired charge cards and credit offers.

Documents at the event will be shred on-site, and all of the paper will be recycled. Along with this service, the organization will also be accepting cooking fats, oils and grease as well as other items routinely collected for recycling.

There is no charge for this event, but donations are welcomed and benefit Keep North Fulton Beautiful, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
