Labor Day 2019: What's Open, Closed In Sandy Springs

SANDY SPRINGS, GA — For many of us, Labor Day marks the unofficial end of summer. The kids are back in school, football is back on the television and, if we get lucky, a cool breeze here and there suggests that autumn truly is on its way.

This year, Labor Day is Monday, Sept. 2. Because Labor Day is a federal holiday, it means a day off of work for a lot of people and no school for children. As such, many governments and other services will be shut down for the day.

Here's a look at some of what will be open and what will be closed in Sandy Springs on Labor Day:

• Fulton County government offices will be closed.
• Garbage collection depends on hauler in Sandy Springs.
• The Sandy Springs Branch will be closed.
• Fulton County Schools will be closed.
• Municipal offices for Sandy Springs will be closed. The next Sandy Springs City Council meeting is on Tuesday, Sept. 3.
• U.S. Postal Service post offices will be closed.
• Most banks will be closed.
• Most Kroger, Publix and other major grocery stores will be open.
• Most restaurants and other consumer-service businesses will be open, but it's worth calling ahead to make sure.
